I Tried Puppy Yoga… Here’s What I Learned
I signed up for puppy yoga thinking it would be a calm, feel-good way to move my body.
Stretching. Breathing. Maybe leaving feeling a little more centred than I arrived.
What I didn’t expect was complete and utter chaos.
Puppies running everywhere. Climbing on backs mid-pose. Stealing the spotlight — and any chance of focus.
I don’t think I held a single pose properly the entire time.
It Wasn’t a “Perfect” Workout. But It Was Exactly What I Needed.
No structure. No intensity. No feeling of I nailed that session.
But I laughed a LOT. I moved my body. And I left in a completely different mood than I arrived.
That’s when it hit me.
Maybe the Problem Isn’t You
So many women I work with feel like they’re failing because they can’t stick to a routine.
But when I look closer, it’s almost never a discipline problem. It’s that the routine is rigid, time-consuming, joyless or even all three. And we’ve been taught that if it isn’t structured and serious, it doesn’t count.
What if that is just not true?
Consistency Comes From Enjoyment — Not Perfection
When you actually enjoy the way you move, you don’t have to force yourself. You don’t dread it. You come back to it.
That puppy yoga class wasn’t effective because it was structured….It was effective because I genuinely wanted to be there.
A 10-minute walk, stretching while the kettle boils, dancing in your kitchen — none of it is “serious” exercise. But it’s movement that fits your life and ultimately that’s what adds up.
The Takeaway
If you’ve been stuck in the start → go all in → fall off → feel frustrated → repeat cycle, it’s probably not a lack of discipline.
It’s that what you’re trying to stick to isn’t built for you or doesn’t bring you joy..
That’s exactly what I help with — building habits that work with YOUR lifestyle, not against it.
